It’s that time of year again. Flint Energies is searching for our next group of youth leaders to represent us on the 2024 Washington Youth Tour. The 2024 Tour will be June 14-21.
Flint Energies delegates will join hundreds of other students from across the country – all expenses paid – for an incredible week in our nation’s capital. The tour is a fast-paced leadership opportunity to see what makes America tick.
The Washington Youth Tour, sponsored nationally by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and statewide by Georgia Electric Membership Corporation (GEMC), is a jam-packed backstage pass to Washington, D.C. It offers high school students an unforgettable, life-changing leadership experience in our nation’s capital.
I’ve attached the 2024 WYT flyer for your students. They may also get more information and apply online at flintenergies.com/wyt. The deadline for applications is January 22, 2024.
Here’s a few things delegates can look forward to on the Washington Youth Tour:
Catered banquet in Atlanta
Teambuilding/leadership training
Arlington National Cemetery
Smithsonian Museums
Holocaust Memorial Museum
George Washington’s Mount Vernon
International Spy Museum
Riverboat Cruise
Making new lifelong friendships
And much more!
Flint’s Youth Tour delegates will also receive a $2,500 college scholarship upon their high school graduation.
If you have any questions or would like a Flint Energies representative to come discuss this opportunity with your students, please contact Blair Brown at 478.218.5547 or bbrown@flintemc.com.

During the month of December, Schley County Flint Energies Empower Youth's focus was community service. The youth chose Deep South Canine Rescue in Ellaville, GA to support and serve. This is an animal shelter that is a nonprofit with a no-kill policy. The students worked at the shelter on Friday, December 1, with other shelter volunteers. They collected donations from their peers for the shelter.

Sr. Beta members please check your email from Mrs. Harnage.

We would like to congratulate Mr. Chad Childs for being recognized yesterday at South Georgia Technical College as our school system's Champion for Education. This award is sponsored by the Chattahoochee Flint RESA. Mr. Childs was recognized for his hard work in our school system to help make each day for our students and staff a smooth and enjoyable experience. We appreciate all of the extra efforts that Mr. Childs takes to help our school system excel.
Congratulations!

The Wildcats travel to Bowdon Friday night 12/1 for a final four matchup and rematch of last year's championship game at 7:30. We need EVERYONE there. Gates open at 5:30. The radio and NFHS network are great for those physically unable to travel but we need everyone there in person in support of our men. Tickets are $15 and are only available through GoFan. The student ticket option, $13, is only for students in grades 9-12 of the two participating schools with a limit of one purchased per student. They do charge $5 to park on campus (cash only). https://gofan.co/event/1267694?schoolId=GA15921

Schley County Retired teachers met and got their "state of the system” address from Superintendent Hall. Many were impressed with all aspects of the growth of our school and the facility improvements, especially the family and consumer science room and new gym entrance. Wow!

Students in Mrs. Crook’s ELA class put their heads together to figure out the point of view for a short story. They must first read the passage, cross out the dialogue, highlight the pronouns, and determine the point of view.
