Work-based learning and Youth Apprenticeship are specialized programs that allow students to receive academic credits for work.

• Helps students learn skills to qualify for full-time jobs

• Develop positive attitudes and work habits

• Instill work ethics, transferable skills, and specific job skills

• Connects CTAE programs to the world of work

Attendance:

• Students must attend both school and work regularly

• If a student is not a school, he or she may not go to work

• Excessive absences from school will result in the removal from the program

Required Hours: Students enrolled in the programs must maintain a minimum number of hours as established by state guidelines.

• 1 block release = 135 hours for the semester or 7.5 hours a week for 18 weeks

• 2 block release = 270 hours for the semester or 15 hours a week for 18 weeks

Other requirements:

• CTAE courses need to relate to job placement

• No sever or consistent discipline issues

  • Students may be removed from the program due to discipline issues or failure to complete required work

• On track to graduate

• 16 years or older

• Reliable transportation

• Parent consent

• No attendance issues

• Past disciplinary actions will be considered in the application process
