Local FFA Officers Attend Training Conference

COVINGTON, GA – The officers of the Schley County FFA Chapter were part of the more than 150 chapter officers representing forty-five FFA chapters from across Georgia that attended one of two sessions of the 2019 Chapter Officer Leadership Training Conference (COLT).

The two sessions of COLT were held at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center near Covington, Blue COLT on July 15-17 and Gold COLT on July 17-19. This year’s COLT theme was “Navigate.” Chapter officers were challenged to create a set of standards for their team and write down goals for the year. Participants attended workshops that focused on professionalism, service, commitment, sharing the message, recruitment and teamwork. The students also began planning their chapter’s Program of Activities for the coming year and learned strategies for time management, creativity and communication.  Officers were encouraged to make an impact in their school and community and gained ideas for member involvement, fundraising, and promoting the FFA.

“COLT Conference provides a great opportunity for chapter officers to learn ways to work together, set goals, and plan out their year as a chapter,” says State FFA President, Willie Sizemore. “It’s amazing to watch the officers develop skills and form friendships that will last a lifetime. We challenge these chapter officers to take the ‘Navigation’ goals and challenges that were presented to them and use them to benefit their members, chapter and community.”

The officers from the Schley County FFA chapter who attended COLT were:

Ethan Ethridge, Brendon Logan, Gabe Norton, Landon Moore, Chris Hiltz, Kayden Gresham
