Announcement

Parents and students,

Decisions for this year’s graduation ceremony have been extremely challenging. Our goal has been to preserve as much of this traditional event as possible and honor our seniors before we get too far into summer. Our seniors are important to us, but we must also follow guidance and rules as advised. Aside from the health and safety of our graduates and community, we have tried to plan an event that captures the essence of this special occasion. We wanted something unique that allowed the entire community to participate, and a closed ceremony continues to take away from what our senior class has already been forced to endure. Seniors need to see and know that all of Schley County is proud of them and their accomplishment on this momentous day. Our main intent was focused on not limiting any family member from being able to celebrate this milestone with each graduate. We appreciate and want to thank in advance the City of Ellaville staff, Schley County Sheriff’s Department, Schley County Chamber of Commerce, and our local EMS.

Our graduation events will include:

· Virtual graduation presented through our website and social media on Friday, May 22nd

· Graduation Parade through Ellaville/Schley County on Saturday, May 23rd

· Unique family centered diploma presentation for each graduate off campus

· On stage photo opportunity at the conclusion of the parade

· Ceremonial cap toss during the first home football game in the fall

Senior parent information for May 23 events.

o Each senior will be allowed one vehicle (car, truck, van, SUV only) that they can decorate (parent driver preferred). (Any issues please contact Mrs. Conner at bconner@schleyk12.org)

o Each senior will have an area marked off on the 8.2-mile parade route where family members can gather to celebrate their senior. Your senior will stop at this location. Please maintain proper social distancing for your area.

o Diploma presentations will take place at each stop. Once finished, the senior's vehicle would fall back in line with the parade.

o The football stadium will have a stage set-up at the end of the parade for those who want a picture on the stage.

o Details will be forthcoming early next week concerning the graduation parade, areas marked off for families, and the procedure for a stadium picture.

o Each senior parent will be contacted directly to ensure that all details are in place as well as to answer any pertinent questions.
